Color/Online MasteringAfter client approvals and picture lock we create an XML, AAF, EDL from one of our NLE’s and conform your project in our Da Vinci Color grading system. We grade using a Tangent Element board and monitor the image on our OLED 25″ Sony. After the color grade is complete we can either export as a round trip XML back into FCP7, Avid or simply create the final output from Da Vinci, in your preferred deliverable format. |

Digital Imaging Technician (DIT):
A digital imaging technician (DIT) works in collaboration with a cinematographer on work flow, systemization, signal integrity and image manipulation, to achieve the highest image quality and creative goals of cinematography in the digital realm.
A DIT’s role is especially prevalent with the widespread use of HD technology, in assisting cinematographers normally accustomed to film stock in achieving their desired look. They may also be in charge of transferring and managing the image data, replacing the traditional film loader position.
The Digital Imaging (or Image) Technician is a relatively new position on a motion picture set. It was created as a response to transition from the traditional film medium into digital cinema which utilize various formats like HD.
Colorist:
A Colorist is responsible for taking a completed edit either from an offline or an online and creatively effecting the image with color tones, vignettes and other techniques as well as simply balancing the image for a broadcast compliant program. Colorists work on programs such as short films, feature-length films, documentaries, reality shows, web content, and music videos. A Colorist can be responsible for recreating moods in a scene, whereas the scene may have started off with flat lighting, the Colorist is able to color the scene to fit the mood of the scene. Creating day for night, sunset moods and interior lighting falls into the craft of a Colorist as well. The toolset of the Colorist is a control panel with color wheels, lift, gamma, gain adjustment knobs and a variety of other buttons that give complete control over the image. One of the most important talents of a Colorist though, is the ability to work with clients( Producers, Directors, DPs) to create the best look and feel for the program while visually telling a story through Color.
