Director/Screenwriter/Editor/Producer
Jokes began professionally writing screenplays for aspiring filmmakers in 1997 while attending Miami Dade College. Soon after, he began freelancing on productions in South Florida, gaining experience how to take project from inception to completion.
In 2001, Jokes was hired to produce a music video TV show titled UPBEAT for a brand new Latin youth network called MUN2. Under his direction, the show soon became the network’s top rated program, and its success inspired the network to take on a bilingual format. Serving as both the creative director and co-creator, the show was re-tooled as “THE ROOF” in 2002 and became an international hit in the Latin music world. To this day, it is credited with exposing Latin hip hop and reggaeton to the international community.
In 2004 JOKES left TV and began directing music videos fulltime bringing a fresh and authentic savvy style to his work. He has worked with such artists as T-Pain, Pitbull, Tila Tequilla, Cee-Lo Green, Bobby Valentino, NORE, Nate Dog, Slim Thug, Mike Jones and many more.
In 2006, JOKES directed the music video “Groundhog Day” for the band ¡Mayday! upon upload to the newly launched site YOUTUBE, it quickly rose to become one of the Internet’s most heavily viewed videos, receiving 2 million views in two days.
In 2007, JOKES directed, “OOHWEE”, which featured T-Pain’s acting debut; the video was written, edited and directed by JOKES and became the opening for T-Pain’s SCREAM TOUR. Every night on tour the video would play, reaching 4.5 Million SCREAM TOUR concert attendees. That same year he directed all the videos For DOWN AKA KILO, who’s hit “LEAN LIKE A CHOLO” garnered over 12.5 million hits on YOUTUBE.
In 2008, JOKES shifted to more narrative work and served as the editor on the Latino TV miniseries, “Gabriel: Amor Immortal” which was nominated for 8 Emmy Awards. JOKES was awarded the EMMY for BEST EDITING.
JOKES then turned his attention toward directing films. His first drama, VLADIMIR’S VODKA (2009), which played at several film festivals including the FT.LAUDERDALE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL. The short was utilized to then gain interst in his feature film debut EENIE MEENIE MINEY MOE.
In late 2011 production began on the feature film EENIE MEENIE MINEY MOE. Now completed and is slated to be released in March of 2013. With several scripts already completed JOKES looks to bring a new edge to filmmaking which is sure to make a lasting impression on the world of cinema.
