From his stellar work on single camera music videos for major artists the likes of Motley Crue. The Pretenders and Bon Jovi to major multi-camera entertainment specials such as running the International master control for “The Academy Awards and directing “The Tournament of Roses Parade” for HGTV and ABC, Brian Lockwood is a highly sought after television director and editor with more than twenty-five years experience in the industry.
Lockwood is fortunate to remain in demand across several genres of television. Over the past few years, he has sat down and anted up at the televised poker table having directed more than 180 episodes of poker programming including NBC’s “Poker After Dark” & “National Heads Up Poker Championships”, “Poker Superstars” for Fox Sports and NBC, and also the “U.S. Poker Championships”, “Pro-Am Poker Equalizer” and “The World Series of Poker” for ESPN, which in 2011 was live for the first time in the forty one years of the series.
Sports programming has always been a slam-dunk for Brian. He has directed competitive events for all of the major broadcast networks and many cable outlets as well. He boasts among his many sports credits “Championship Boxing” for HBO, “NASCAR Racing” for Speed and HDNET, “Monster Energy Supercross” and “Indy Car Racing” for CBS and Speed, the “U.S. Pro Ski Tour” for ABC and ESPN, and just to stay on point, the “Professional Bull Riders Tour” for TNT.
Factual and Entertainment producers call upon Lockwood for his ability to find the story and beauty in most anything he directs. Animal Planet’s “Trail Mix” combined both story telling and musical performance in a High Definition special. Artist included Leeann Rimes, Sheryl Crow, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Ronan Tynan, Rob Thomas and Joe Perry of Aerosmith. Lockwood also directed “American Thunder” hosted by Chad McQueen and Michael Madsen and “Wings of Glory” hosted by the 3rd man to walk on the moon Charles Pete Conrad for SPEED. The beauty and beach is easy to find in over a dozen “Miss Hawaiian Tropic International” pageants he’s directed. These reality based pageant specials included Ryan Seacrest and Downtown Julie Brown as Hosts and Lockwood directed special guest that performed sketch comedy including: Leslie Nelson, Benny Hill, Joe Piscopo and Fabio. Brian has also directed concert specials, music videos and DVD’s for the likes of the Dave Matthews Band, Elton John, Cypress Hill, Eric Clapton, Linkin Park, Van Halen, Peter Gabriel, Smashing Pumpkins, Avril Lavine , The Black Eyed Peas and the Pussycat Dolls. Comedy Central has called upon him to direct their comedy/dating hybrid show “Defending Your Date” as has Budweiser for twelve national live sixty second commercials “Bud Light Live” that were broadcast live on NBC during the first commercial break of the network hit “Friends”.
From the beginning of his career, Lockwood has been on the forefront of digital technology both in production and post production. Some twenty years ago he founded Broadcast Edit, a cutting edge post-production facility that was a mainstay for many major broadcasters and production companies in Southern California. As an expert Avid and Final Cut Pro editor, Currently Lockwood is the senior on-site editor and system designer for “NASCAR’S Sprint Cup Series” and “Monster Energy Supercross”. Brian remains in demand and regularly is asked to edit the programs he directs. A High Definition expert, Lockwood is now been active in the world of 3D production and has directed live 3D concerts and specials for AEG Live.
Brian has won numerous awards including a Billboard Music Video Award for his Boxing Gandhi’s work, RIAA Platinum awards for Motley Crue and Eric Clapton, three Telly awards from projects he directed for NASA and The US Treasury Department. He currently resides in Huntington Beach, California with his wife Tina and raises guide dogs for the blind for “Guide Dogs of America”.
